India Offers to Host Students and Teachers from E-9 Countries
India has offered to host teachers and students from E-9 countries to let them understand the cultural diversity of the country and other aspects.
The offer was put forward by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani during UNESCO's World Education Forum (WEF) meet held in Incheon, South Korea last week.
The E-9 countries include Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria and Pakistan. At the E-9 forum, they discuss educational experiences, best practices and monitor progress in providing education for all.
According to the Education Secretary, Vrinda Sarup, the E-9 group also agreed to Minister Smriti Irani‘s suggestion that every country must have the ability to strategise and plan their moves to achieve inclusive and lifelong learning by 2030.
"The benchmarks would be based on available resources and that they should be able to reach 2030 in an incremental manner," Vrinda Sarup said.
The minister was supported by a host of countries including those in the SAARC and BRICS group.
The WEF meet was held to finalize the next stage of education agenda in the time frame 2015 to 2030.
