Angry Parents Protests Against Unjustified Fee Hike by Private Schools
Private schools in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana hiked school fee to unjustifiable sums this year, which has led to protest from annoyed parents. Unlike Delhi, there are no guidelines from the state education department regarding the annual fee hike in these states.
Several schools have raised their fee upto 10 percent. For instance, Pathways School in Noida raised the fee to Rs 99,000 for a quarter, straight from Rs 90,000 in the previous year, for class six students. Additionaly, parents have to pay Rs 20,000 in lieu of IT fee, apart from uniform and book charges. Over 300 parents protested outside the school on Wednesday morning, alleging that even after paying huge amounts, the quality of education given in the school is going down.
"Why are they not walking in the footsteps of Delhi government. The Uttar Pradesh government has no control over the private schools due to which the parents have to suffer. We have started a signature campaign and will be submitting the complaints to the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Every school in Gautam Budh Nagar district is following its own set of rules," said Neeti Shrivastava, President of the Gautam Budh Nagar Parents' Association.
