There had been a 70% rise in the registration for career-relevant online courses from the previous year in India, according to an analysis conducted by the online learning website, Coursera. India was found out to be the third largest online learning market, after the US and China, with over 1.3 million learners.
The top city of registered online learners in India is the country's very own technology hub, Bengaluru, followed by Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Technology courses such as computer science(25%) and data science(18%) combines nearly half of the various courses opted from the country.
The most active online learners in India are entrepreneurial, young professionals in their 20s and 30s who are focused on gaining the technical skills that are sought after by Indias top employers, said Rick Levin, CEO of Coursera.
The interest to pursue online courses is coming more from men at 76% of the total enrollments, while women enrollment falls short at only 24%.
