Marathon for Child Education Run on This Year’s World Day Against Child Labour

The occasion of this year's World Day Against Child Labour on June 12th, has witnessed hundreds of children running a marathon from Dimapur backing the total eradication of child labour. The marathon was organized by the Community Educational Centre Society (CECS) in partnership with the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) and Wipro Cares, and supported by the Department of Labour and Employment. Labour Commissioner, L Nungshiyanger Aier flagged off the Marathon at 7:00am.

The event stressed that all children should be protected from the evils of child labour. It encouraged the public to stand up against all kinds of violation of human rights aimed at children. The rally also underlined the alarming rate of child labour rising around the world today. It asserted that every child has the right to a free quality public education, just as the theme for this year’s World Day against Child Labour clearly indicated: ‘No to Child Labour – Yes to Education.’
