Ranchi Students Prefer Mainstream Courses to Offbeat Courses

Ranchi students say no to offbeat courses


Ranchi: Offbeat courses are loosing its charm on Ranchi students.  While courses like ethical hacking, designing and nutrition are gaining popularity, toppers of ISC still opts for main stream courses like engineering, medicine and chartered accountancy, among the rest.

ISC state topper Aishwarya Thakur with 98.2% in commerce wants to become a chartered accountant.

"I do not want to experiment with my subject choice. I will get my BCom degree and pursue CA as well," said Thakur on Monday soon after the ICSE and ISC results were declared.

Anurupa Chatterjee of Loreto Convent who topped in ICSE science stream with 98.2% wants to become a doctor. ""I always wanted to become a doctor too," said Apaprupa, twin sister of Anurupa, who scored 97.8% in ICSE.

Shruti Kumari of Sacred Heart School Hulhundu topped in ICSE with 98.2% plans to pursue medical career.

"I am motivated by my elder sister Rashmi, who went on to study engineering in BIT Mesra," said Kumari of Shukla colony, Doranda.

For Ranchi students, civil service is also a preferred choice among medical and engineering. Most students are of the opinion that, exposure in jharkhand is less. Arts and commerce students prefer Delhi University while engineering aspirants want admission in Bengaluru colleges.

 "There are no good colleges here. There is very little exposure in Jharkhand," said Gaurav, stated a Plus II pass out from St. Xavier's School.
