Students Asked to Vacate School Buildings As Delhi Shook


After tremors were felt in the national capital, Delhi, on Tuesday, many schools in the city were vacated.  Teachers had asked the students to vacate the classrooms and to assemble in the play ground.

One of the teachers in a government-run school in Turkman Gate area said that they had asked students to evacuate the school buildings and to come out in open as part of taking preventive measures. However, schools resumed after a break of 20 to 30 minutes.

After April 25th, another powerful earthquake that measured 7.3 on the Richter scale, started off in Nepal on Tuesday. The earthquake tremors were also felt in West Bengal, Delhi, Bihar and several other parts of India. Delhi witnessed the tremors for 30 seconds.

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, asked the residents of the city not to panic and to maintain calm. He said that the Earthquake situation was being closely monitored and the officials were already in the field.
