The Minister for primary and secondary education, minority welfare and wakf, Tanveer Sait, has opined that the education policy of Karnataka is one of the best in the country.
He was addressing the audience after inaugurating MESCO (Mysore Educational, Social and Cultural Organisation) PU College at Subash Nagar on Saturday, where Abdul Khader Sait, president, MESCO; Ulfath Fathima, President, Al-Mamoor Ladies Association and others were present.
"The government schools are trying to compete with private schools," he said.
The Minister urged that the popular notion that government schools are for the poor, aided schools are for the middle-class and private schools are for the rich must go. He said that there were over 20,000 vacancies in the department of public instruction waiting to be filled. The Minister ensured that procedures will be initiated soon to fill up these vacancies.
MESCO and Al Mamoor Ladies Association will jointly manage the PU college.
