The popular DTH services company, Tata Sky, is up to a new initiative, Tata Sky Classroom, that aims to provide educational services to the students of elementary school(Class 5 to Class 8) .
The service will be available for its 17 million subscribers across the country and will provide audio-visual learning as per the prescribed course of the NCERT syllabus.
"We are launching this service in Maths and Science subjects. The service will be available free-of-cost till June 20 to all Tata Sky subscribers. Later it will be available at ₹99 per month in two languages English and Hindi,” informed Malay Dixit, chief communications officer, Tata Sky.
The content for the Tata Sky Classroom services is developed in association with Tata ClassEdge, a part of Tata Interactive Systems that provides latest technology education solutions to schools.
"The content is used by 1,300 schools across India. Currently, in the overall publications industry we see about 35 percent digitisation. But in educational publications, the quantum of digitisation is merely 3 percent. There is a huge requirement of providing educational content through digital sources,” said Rajesh Khandagale, Chief Commercial Officer , Tata ClassEdge .
He also said that they are aiming to reach 10 million students by 2025 with this new service.
